DOUGLAS DELIGHT

RYAN Douglas was delighted with his rostrum spot in a meeting at Brisbane at the weekend.

The meeting was won by Watling JCB Lions colleague Nick Morris after an entertaining deciding heat.

Now Douglas is counting down to this Saturday and the Queensland Solo Championship with Morris again included alongside Poole’s Zaine Keleher, Scunthorpe’s Jake Allen and Sheffield duo Josh Grajczonek and Zaine Kennedy. Fans are allowed to attend.

Said Douglas: “It was good to get a meeting under my belt before the Queensland title this weekend.

“I’ve been out on the bike practicing a few times but nothing beats racing against three other riders.

“When the tapes rise you always switch to race mode and that is so much better than having a skid on your own.

“North Brisbane is my local track and I’ve done plenty of laps around the place.

“I was a little disappointed with third place in the final but I’m looking at the bigger picture of this weekend and winning the Queensland title.

“I’m looking forward now to the weekend at Bowen and hopefully come away with the right result. It will be a tough and competitive meeting but one I will be ready for.”

Leicester bosses are continuing to plan towards next season with a proposed April start with hopes remaining that fans return to sporting venues on or around that time.
